This inner peace is utterly unmistakable. I feel the love of God so overwhelmingly unconditional\, so gently intimate\, that I am left with a deep-seated peace that will survive all sorts of trials\, selfishness and loss. \nThe FSE is a four-week retreat in daily life\, with a choice of four retreats. It involves a commitment to daily prayer from Monday to Thursday and a Sunday exercise. Retreatants usually meet weekly during the retreat and share their experience in spiritual conversation facilitated by trained guides. The FSE can always be adapted to the particular needs and circumstances of those making the retreat. \nWe can connect you with local spiritual conversation guides who give the FSE to parishes\, pastoral teams\, prayer groups\, teaching staff\, ecumenical groups and individuals. We work in collaboration with Spiritual Directors\, Christian Life Community (CLC) and other Ignatian partners. \nPraying an FSE retreat can bring us swiftly back into relationship with a personal God and the meaning and direction of our life journey. It slows us down\, to reground us in what matters. \nThe FSE offers life through listening and conversation. A single story from another can change us for life. Such stories reach deep and catch us up\, to transform and nourish. And our life stories carry life for others. The FSE is full of deep stories – our stories\, the story of the universe\, of people in great need\, of intimacy with Jesus.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]If you would like to experience an FSE retreat in your parish\, your group or personally\, please contact us at 1300 EXAMEN (1300 392 636) or info@jisa.org.au[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”MORE INFORMATION” color=”warning” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fjisa.org.au%2Fthe-first-spiritual-exercises-in-daily-life%2F”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Concise Spiritual Exercises\, in-person Pymble NSW - AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1759298073286{margin-bottom: 70px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Highlights of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius for busy people seeking nourishment and clarity. \nAre you looking for a deeper prayer life and to discover the desires God has for you? The full Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius provide an invaluable and time-tested framework for a powerful\, life-changing encounter with God; however sometimes it can be difficult to make the full Exercises in 30 days of silence or over 30 weeks in daily life. \nIf this is the case for you\, we invite you to experience key exercises from all four parts of the Spiritual Exercises over four months in these Concise Spiritual Exercises. \nOffered in Pymble NSW. \nHow it works – The Concise Spiritual Exercises are a four-month in-person program based in Pymble NSW which includes\, each month: a retreat day\, daily prayer\, and online spiritual accompaniment. We suggest that one or more of the monthly retreats days be extended to two days if possible. There is also a final spiritual accompaniment session to conclude. \nYou can also experience the Concise Spiritual Exercises in an 8-Day residential retreat with an introductory spiritual direction session beforehand. \nPrior experience – Before undertaking the Concise Spiritual Exercises\, we recommend that you have experience in regular Ignatian spiritual direction/accompaniment and a silent Ignatian retreat of at least two days. \nPrice – $1195 includes four retreat days at Peter Canisius House in Pymble\, study space\, Wi-Fi\, prayer material\, use of facilities and grounds\, parking\, refreshments\, lunch\, all spiritual direction sessions at JISA Canisius and online. \nEnquiries and bookings: Email info@jisa.org.au or Phone 1300 392 636[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text css=””]Read Michael’s experience of the Concise Spiritual Exercises: \nAn option for people with busy lives\nFor over 15 years I had desired to undertake the Spiritual Exercises\, but it seemed more of a ‘life bucket list’ type desire that was very difficult to undertake with a full-time job and young children\, using my annual holiday to go on a silent retreat. It seemed to ask a lot\, not of me so much but of my wife who’d be literally left holding the baby! \nThen I discovered the Concise Spiritual Exercises offered out of Canisius. This format is designed to fit into a retreatant’s life routine. Not as good an experience as going away on retreat but better than not doing it at all. \nIn this mode\, each ‘Week’ of the Exercises takes about a month. It starts with a full day on a weekend and then continues with a structured hour of daily prayer at home\, five to six days a week. There was no need for me to use up any of my annual leave\, all I had to do was stick to the habit of getting up on time for that ‘holy hour’. \nAll up\, the Concise Exercises involved about 120 hours of time in prayer\, compared to\, I believe\, around 160 hours for the full 30-day retreat. Because it was all done at home\, the retreat was also a tiny fraction of the cost of the live-in version. \nIt was very gratifying to finally be able to complete the Exercises\, before I heard about this course\, I believed the 30-day retreat was something I’d only be able to do in retirement. I recommend it for anyone who also feel drawn to undertake the full Exercises but like me\, assumed it to be impractical at their stage in life. \nA big thanks to my retreat director\, Guy Yeomans and to JISA for working to make the Exercises more accessible.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”9348″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”9353″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1671426280670{margin-bottom: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1671426308298{margin-top: -15px !important;border-top-width: -15px !important;}”] \nMichael Walker \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Written by Michael Walker\, President of Christian Life Community (CLC) Australia[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Erromeria Self-Guided Online Pilgrimage - AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row”][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_custom_heading text=”Welcome to a virtual pilgrimage with Ignatius” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23558783″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1658798702694{padding-bottom: 50px !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: contain !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Jesuit and Ignatian Spirituality Australia invites you to Erromeria – a virtual pilgrimage with Ignatius. Erromeria is Basque for a ‘festive pilgrimage’ and Ignatius came from the Basque region of Spain. Erromeria was created to celebrate the “Ignatian Year” a commemoration of 500 years since the conversion of St Ignatius in 2021\, and 400 years since his canonisation in 2022. \nExperience the gifts of Ignatius’ life and spirituality through a series of stories and prayers of key stages and turning points of Ignatius’ life\, and the relevance to our lives\, places\, and times\, including questions to reflect upon. \nThere are 12 stages in this virtual pilgrimage\, including preparation and concluding stages. We invite you to engage with this rich material over several days of silent retreat\, or spread out over a number of weeks in your daily life\, as your time permits. \nShould you wish to connect with a spiritual director to companion you at any time\, contact JISA on 1300 EXAMEN (1300 392 636) or info@jisa.org.au. \n  \n\nConsider the timeline of Ignatius’ life and the pivotal moments of suffering and grace\, draw up a timeline of your own life\, praying over the periods of darkness\, of transformation and grace.\nBe open to the inner movement of your heart\, where is the Spirit leading you?\nUse the prayer podcasts to engage with the Spiritual Exercises offered. Keep a Listening Book / Prayer Journal to record your experiences.\nConsider a walking pilgrimage of your own or join one of the JISA pilgrimages\, walk as Ignatius did\, being open to where God is leading you\, spiritually and in all aspects of life.\nRelish the joy of the poetry offered over the Erromeria journey\, allow the poetry in your own heart to rise and be articulated.\nImmerse yourself in the details of Ignatius’ pilgrimage.  Allow our Erromeria guide\, Frances Tilly to take you on the road experiencing the places\, cultures\, and richness of the journey while you ponder where God might be calling you at this time of your life.\n\n  \nThe journey of a pilgrimage is central to Ignatian Spirituality\, as we seek to find God in all the moments and experiences of life. You are invited to consider how you might continue to engage with the journey of Ignatius\, allowing his experiences to intersect with your own\, as you experience life anew with a fresh and energized spiritual vision. \nThank you to the voices of JISA and the Australian Jesuit Province – Spiritual Directors and Givers of Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises in all their forms – who have come together to create this Erromeria pilgrimage![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This Online Self-Guided Retreat is free of charge.\nIf you would like to contribute to the ongoing work of the ministry\, you are welcome to give using this link Thank you.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][/vc_column][vc_column css_animation=”fadeInRight” width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3588″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_empty_space height=”22px”][vc_single_image image=”6684″ img_size=”400 x 700″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1658798720368{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;background-color: #f1e9e2 !important;background-position: 0 0 !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_custom_heading text=”Prepare for your Pilgrimage” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%23cc733c” google_fonts=”font_family:Amatic%20SC%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal” css_animation=”fadeInLeft” css=”.vc_custom_1655956012270{margin-top: -50px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1656028170488{padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1626841262826{margin-bottom: -30px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1656027864931{margin-top: 10px !important;margin-bottom: -15px !important;}”] We warmly welcome you to Erromeria!
