FACILITATORS:
Dr Sally Longley is a spiritual director, retreat leader and author, with experience in dreamwork, theopoetics, midrash, and labyrinths as creative responses to sacred texts, and the sacred stories of our life. Kathy Cave moved to a career in the art of listening after working in investment markets for 30 years. After training in spiritual direction, supervision and art therapy, she now offers retreats, and accompanying people in their journeys as they discover their cherished uniqueness. Dieter Weinand is an executive coach and business performance facilitator with over 30 years experience, specialising in leadership and organisational development in both South Africa and Australia. A trained spiritual director and retreat leader, he is currently participating in the Living School, Centre for Action and Contemplation.

The Wise Art of Conversations with Silence
Six sessions of 90 mins held weekly beginning Monday 10 May at 19.00 (AEDT)

This course is for anyone: those who are curious about silence but don’t know where to begin, through to those who may be very experienced in silence and/or silent retreats. Everyone is welcome. Based on the book “Conversations with Silence: Rosetta Stone of the Soul” by Sally Longley, it is crafted as a safe space to explore each of the key topics in the book. It will be interactive, drawing on your questions, struggles, wisdom and experience. Responses (incl. writing, poetry, art, movement, drama) to your own conversations with silence will be encouraged.

Each session will be based on a chapter, and offer participation and small private breakout groups online. Participants are encouraged to read Ch 1 if possible before the first session, though not essential.

The Wise Art of Still Walking
Three sessions of 90 mins weekly from Monday 21 June, 19:00 (AEDT)

Practical: Each session will explore different ways of contemplative walking with the opportunity to practise between sessions; possibly even walking with others of the course in the same geographical area or “online”. Participants will be able to share their experiences, insights and concerns.

The Wise Art of Journaling
Four sessions of 90 minutes starting Monday 12 July as below

Journaling is about reflecting and discovering how the outward journey relates to the inward journey and vice versa. These sessions will explore the art and skill of journaling; how to overcome the inner critic and blockages and enjoy the pleasure of reflecting, writing and to return later to let the words continue speaking into your life.

Practical: Participants are encouraged to practise different techniques of journaling and to share their insights and experiences with other participants.

Dates: Monday 12 July, 19 July, 26 July and Tuesday 10 August 2021 at 19:00 (AEDT).  Notice, the last session is after a short break for integrating skills learnt.

The Wise Art of Art in Spiritual Companionship
Four sessions of 90 minutes held weekly starting Wednesday 2 August

This interactive course training helps you get some practical experience in “doing”, “looking” and “hearing” about art in a companioning context. Discover of some of the theories of using art in soul work by doing creative works (a different approach to art in each session) and listening to each other. You DO NOT need to be an artist or any “good” at art or drawing.

Practical: Each session will have active participation with the use of breakout rooms. If you would like to facilitate a session please indicate this when you register. Before some sessions you are required to do an art work – estimated time to do this is an hour.

Guided Prayer
Monthly on the second Thursday of month – at 19:00 ((AEDT)

This hour-long monthly zoom session of guided prayer will introduce different methods of prayer such as lectio divina and imaginative prayer. Participants will be guided through the prayer and then move into optional sharing in groups to gain from each other’s experience.
