A Contemplative Walk – Awakening to Awe
You are invited to join us on the 17th October as we walk through the lush rainforest of the Thylogale Track in the D’Aguilar National Park. The track meanders beneath the lush, cool rainforest with its canopy of towering strangler figs, hoop pines, lacebark trees and palms. The silence of the forest reveals the songs of the wompoo pigeons, rose-crowned fruit-doves, green catbirds, satin bowerbirds and pale-yellow robins. You may catch a glimpse of the shy pademelons darting in the undergrowth of the forest floor.
The walk will allow time to contemplate the words of St Francis, who invited us to see nature as a magnificent book in which God speaks to us and grants us a glimpse of his infinite beauty and goodness.
The walk is 9 klms to be walked over five hours, from Jollys Lookout to Boombana and return. It is an easy walk, graded as Three (suitable for most ages and fitness levels, some bushwalking experience recommended.)
The Thylogale walking track is in the South D’Aguilar section of D’Aguilar National Park, about 30km from Brisbane’s city centre.
Meet: 7am, Jolly’s Lookout, Mt Nebo Road, Saturday 17 October 2020
Wear good walking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen, water and snacks. There will be a number of reflective breaks, so bring something light to sit on.
