Retreat Giver Profiles:
Enoch Choy SJ – Enoch is a spiritual director, former university lecturer and pastor. He also served as the director of an international cultural organization. A graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary and Yale University, he was also trained at Harvard, Geneva, and other schools. Enoch received his training in Ignatian Spirituality at Jesuit institutions in Guelph and Melbourne. In his seminary years, he practiced regular fasting; but has become more moderate over the years. Enoch also likes to cook, with a keen interest in Chinese (Cantonese and Sichuan), Japanese (including Molecular Gastronomy techniques), and a little French, Mexican, Tongan, and Moroccan cooking. Enoch is a Spiritual Director with Jesuit and Ignatian Spirituality Australia.
Pastor Guy Yeomans –A ‘dark night of the soul’ drew Guy to Ignatian Spirituality, proving so life changing that he wanted to help others discover it. In 1999 Guy undertook the Spiritual Exercises at Canisius Spirituality Centre in Pymble, Sydney. Then in 2000 trained as a spiritual director at the Jesuit Center in Pennsylvania. His eclectic careers include teacher, MP (Member of the NSW Parliament), PR consultant and CEO of Anglican Schools. In 2005 Guy became pastor at St Ives Baptist Church (retired 2016) and a member of the retreat and spiritual direction team at JISA Canisius. He has a Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies and a Masters in Christian Spirituality. Guy is married with teenage twins.
Dr Susie Hii MBBS, FRACP – Susie was trained in medicine at Melbourne University, graduated in 1989, and went on to specialise in gerontology. In her 50s, she trained as a spiritual director and is currently completing a Master of Spirituality at the University of Divinity. She has been a member of Christian Life Community for 25 years, and the Christian Meditation Community for over 15 years. Her passion includes working as a gerontologist, engaging people in meditation and Scripture reflection, applying lectio divina and Ignatian imaginative contemplation, and giving seminars on Meditation, Ignatian Spirituality, Healing and Ageing. She is the author of Happy, Healthy, Holy and Journey into the Second Half of Life, and has contributed regularly to Madonna magazine and Jesuit Communications’ prayer app. Susie is married with two children.
