Dining with St Ignatius: an Online Retreat on Food and Spirituality

Join us on an enjoyable and insightful journey of feasting fasting and cooking with Ignatius! Over two nights via zoom within a small group you will see how to enhance your spiritual life and your relationship with food. Discover how you can make the most out of feasting as a celebration of life with a grateful heart, how fasting can improve your prayer life, and how cooking can be a practice of the presence of God and even become prayer.

In this online retreat, there will be opportunities for contemplation on Scripture, conversations in small groups, prayerful eating, fasting, prayerful cooking, meditating on some of St Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises and practicing the prayer of the senses, during and outside of the retreat sessions. Paintings, Poems, live Piano Music, or other art forms will be used to enrich the sessions.

We may draw upon for inspiration movies like Babette’s Feast, Mostly Martha, Facing the Fat: Fasting For 50 Days (Documentary), and classical music like Franz Schubert’s Trout Quintet, Alexander Glazunov’s Slavonic Feast in G Major. Op. 26a and J. S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata.
