Contemplative Walk – Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, NSW

Sunday, 23, October 2022 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

”From panoramic vistas to the tiniest living form, nature is a constant source of wonder and awe. It is also a continuing revelation of the divine.” Laudato Si, (85)

Take some time to allow the divine presence in nature to be with you, as we walk within the Bobbin Head region of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The morning will include, a guided input and contemplation, quiet walking, time for reflection and sharing.

Sydney’s heritage-listed Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is Australia’s second-oldest National Park and stands on Darramurra-gal country. Located in Sydney’s north, the National Park combines important history with scenic beauty and enables you to feel at one with nature without leaving the Sydney metropolitan area.

The Gibberagong Track is a moderate walking track starting at Bobbin Head in the southern section of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Taking in unique saltwater wetlands, it’s ideal for wildlife-spotting and birdwatching. Following Cockle Creek, you’ll reach an easy boardwalk, where grey saltwater mangroves grow in the brackish waters. Beneath your feet, a whole watery ecosystem thrives, with plankton, crabs and shellfish. You’re also likely to see wading birds like herons, spoonbills and ibises looking for snacks. You might even glimpse an azure kingfisher darting amongst the mangroves. The track winds through the bush, crossing the creek several times before arriving at a large waterhole.

The Walk: The walk is graded as ‘Easy’ and is suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience is recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps.
