A Contemplative Walk – in an ANCIENT CREATION
This is an opportunity to spend some reflective time walking in silence within the Binna Burra section of the Lamington National Park in an ancient rainforest creation. The circuit walk will be undertaken in silence to give the opportunity to be open to the sights, sounds, touch and fragrances of the ancient Gondwana Rainforest. The walk will be a guided walk on the ‘Tullawallai Circuit’ which takes in a pocket of Nothofagus moorei or Antarctic Beech Rainforest to the summit of the walk. This rainforest forming a precious part of the northernmost patch of this species in Australia which is one of our last links to the ancient rain forests of Gondwana.
This walk will be an opportunity for the distractions of the modern world to recede and encourage you to come to connection and be nourished by the beauty of this ancient creation. It is hoped that during the walk the quiet moments will offer encouragement to connection between the sacred spirit of Gondwana and the sacred mystery we call the God presence within our inner selves.
Wear good walking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen, water and snacks. There will be a number of reflective breaks, so bring something light to sit on.
The ‘Tullawallai Circuit’ track is a 5klm circuit classified as a grade three walk* with some rough track surfaces, reasonable level fitness is required and be sure to wear good supportive walking shoes. We plan to walk slowly, taking 3 to 4 hours to walk and to spend time in reflection to the summit.
