Australian Ignatian Trail 2022 – 4 days/6 nights – 2022 Dates TBC

Sunday, 1, May 2022

A Pilgrimage along The Australian Ignatian Trail in the footsteps of the first Jesuits in Australia.

4-day walking pilgrimage (6 nights) Clare Valley South Australia
2022 Dates TBC

As a small group of pilgrims, you will walk part of the route in South Australia taken by the first Jesuits who arrived in 1848. This section of The Australian Ignatian Trail will begin at Kapunda. From there, the route proceeds along quiet country roads, the Rattler Trail and the Riesling Trail finishing at Sevenhill where the Jesuits established the first vineyard of Clare Valley in 1851

This camino experience provides an opportunity to encounter Ignatian Spiritualty, discerning and listening to God’s presence in Nature. Step aside from everyday life, walk, reflect, experience nature day after day, time in silence, conversation and listening to God’s presence.

Four consecutive days of walking covers 76km. A moderate level of walking fitness and overall good health is essential with daily distances between 15km and 22km.

The group will be supported by two experienced leaders from JISA’s Being with God in Nature ministry: Jan FitzPatrick and Michael Bertie.

Cost: TBC per person, including:

  • 6 nights’ country accommodation (one-night twin share room)
  • 4 breakfasts, two dinners, one lunch
  • Daily luggage transfers
  • Free day at Sevenhill to explore the vineyard & Retreat Centre surrounds
  • Two retreat leaders / walking guides
