I arrived at the Exercises ready to move into a cocoon, I was weary, tired, dejected, wounded, I needed tender loving care. I was ready to hide in Your cocoon. I had travelled a long journey and I was welcomed to rest in Your arms, to feel Your heart beat next to mine, stronger than ever and to fall deeper in love with Your beauty all over again. I came for restoration and renewal, and I was given so much more.  As I emerged refreshed, with newly created wings, I felt secure within the known surroundings, I was comfortable flying low within my garden, your garden, our garden. I claimed some conquests during my metamorphosis and slowly I flew further out, into other neighbourhoods, learning about the abilities my new wings had and tentatively trying them out. Time has passed and sometimes I go back to my garden, even into the cocoon. Gently but firmly, You tell me, “Surrender to me and go! I will be with you till the end of time” (Matt 28:20). I have been through another metamorphosis, and gradually I am expanding my new wings, seeking further horizons.
