Dadirri – Inner, deep listening and quiet

Dadirri – the Aboriginal people have long recognised the wisdom of “inner, deep listening and quiet.”

Miriam Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann, an Aboriginal Artist and Educator, shares the Aboriginal concept of Deep listening called Dadirri which comes from the Ngan’gikurunggurr and Ngen’giwumirri languages of the Daly River region in the Northern Territory.   Mirrian Rose believes that Dadirri is in everyone and likens it to “inner, deep listening and quiet, still awareness.”   For Miriam Rose,  Dadirri is a gift that Australia is thirsting for. She likens it to ‘contemplation’.
