Being with God in Nature

“Creation is of the order of love. God’s love is the fundamental moving force in all created things.” Pope Francis (Laudato Si’, 77)
The ministry of Being with God in Nature is part of Jesuit and Ignatian Spirituality Australia.
The ministry began in 2015 coinciding with the publication of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si. Pope Francis spoke to our concerns of how easy it is to become disconnected from Nature in our city lives. Pope Francis wants us to know that,
“The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains” everything is, as it were a caress of God.” (Laudato Si’, 84)
The Being with God in Nature team provides opportunities to spend some contemplative time in nature. Program participants are invited into that contemplative place in their hearts to encounter the Presence that is God in Nature, which leads to “ecological conversation” and reconciliation with Creation.
“This responsibility for God’s Earth means that human beings, endowed with intelligence, must respect the laws of nature and the delicate equilibria existing between the creatures of this world.” (Laudato Si’, 68)
The Being with God in Nature Ministry is supported by two Coordinators, a small Foundation Team made up of original ministry members along with a National Team who come together to pray, discern and plan offerings in their specific regions, collaboratively and online.
Look out for Being with God in Nature offerings which include online retreats, prayer walk days, weekend retreats, wilderness retreats and pilgrimages. And contact us if you would like to be involved in giving or receiving these offerings.
