Pope Francis’ in his encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home (2015) says, “There is a mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a dewdrop, in a poor person’s face” (LS,233). The Irish Jesuit, Brian Grogan SJ, explores the mysticism of Laudato Si in his book, “Finding God in a Leaf“. This small book is a real gem, as Brian provides a daily reflection over 30 days, inviting the reader to absorb the deep mysticism of Laudato Si. “God, Pope Francis affirms, is present in nature, and he wants us to share that perspective, because he believes that it can generate in us a sense of wonder, awe, reverence and love for nature in all its aspects.” (p.9) Brian writes in a clear yet informal way making it easier to sit for 15 minutes a day, reading the reflection and contemplating our connection with the Presence that is God in all Creation. It would be an ideal book to use during the Season of Creation.
